The lavender flower might not be in the limelight of every event such as weddings, birthdays , anniversaries or holidays, not as famous other ornamental flowers like rose, tulips, daisies or daffodils but it’s uses and benefits are amazing. When I think of these attractive pleasant smelling purple-colored flowers, it connects me to scented lotions, shampoos, soaps and oils. But when I searched more of its uses a year ago, I learned that lavender does more than just smell good.
Pure lavender oil and dried lavender flower are commonly used as home remedies for insomnia. I tried placing two drops of lavender essential oil into my hanker-chief the time I was so stressed and had a hard time sleeping. Indeed after a few minutes I was drifted to my dreamland. Pure lavender oil is claimed to heal pimples, acne and other skin blemishes. Dried lavender also makes a wonderful tea. Although it’s not my favorite tea flavor but I have tasted it. Just like any other tea, it is very soothing and relaxing especially during bedtime. Lavender flowers can be candied or used to flavor sugar.
What more? Some chefs are experimenting its uses on some of their menus. Maybe in the future we can have a lavender cake, lavender coffee, lavender soft drinks. What else can you think?
