If we are like most of you, our utility bills have continued to spiral upwards at an alarming rate. We have hot and humid months in the summer in New Jersey and the coldest of winters. Neither of which helps us keep our utility bills down, even though we try everything to make the bills lower.
A friend mentioned she had contacted www.yourenergyteam.com and was very pleased to find they would send out a professional team to help her identify problem areas and offer easy solutions to reduce her utility bills. One of the “little” problems, and I know most of us have them, were the old incandescent light bulbs our parents grew up with. They are now being phased out. The “curling” light bulbs (CFL’s) are easy to use, but there is a disposal problem because they contain mercury. If you change to LED lighting, you can save as much as $65.00 a year.
The Energy Star company is a contractor who participates with the New Jersey Office of Clean Energy. They can help you with home repairs assistance in new jersey. They have a solution to many of your problems by doing energy audits, consulting on water conservation, spray foam insulation and LED lights. The clean energy program of New Jersey may give you up to $15,000.00 in rebates and incentives for home repair grants. While you must use approved energy contractors to do the work, there is no income restriction, and the grants may be available to anyone who can use them. Schedule an energy audit to see if you qualify.
Did you know that in a home like yours and mine that as much as 25% of heating and cooling dollars fly out the window so to speak, through unseen cracks and gaps, usually found in our heating duct system, attics and basements. You may be able to qualify for an insulation grant in New Jersey and all you have to do is contact the Energy Team for an audit. A detailed inspection will tell you if you are losing utility money and solutions you can afford will be offered. Insulation repairs might be in order and an insulation grant in new jersey would help you financially.

Card playing in one form or another has been around for centuries. With the advent of the internet nearly thirty years ago, free poker games have grown like Topsy. No longer do we have to plan for months to go to Vegas or Reno or the nearest new American Indian Casino. In the comfort of our own homes we can play free poker games with the click of a few key strokes. One such site is www.faceupgaming.com. I like the way you can maneuver around the site easily and if you don’t like the poker game you are in, you can leave with one click and go to a different game.
One of the games I like best is Texas Hold ‘em Poker. It is a variation of the standard poker game. Two cards are dealt face down to each player. Then three cards are dealt face up in front of the dealer. This is known as “the flop”. Each player has the opportunity to check, bet, raise or fold after the three cards are dealt. The dealer then deals himself one card face up, sometimes called “the turn”. Checking or betting again takes place. The fifth card is dealt by the dealer (sometimes called the “river”) and betting takes place again. Best poker hand made from your two cards and the dealer’s five cards takes the pot. Texas holdem poker is now the most popular form of poker, upsetting Seven Card Stud, due to it’s popularity on TV and also internet exposure.
Face Up gaming was formed by two people who didn’t like playing online poker games and having no interaction with other players. It took them several years but they have come up with the first and only online, interactive, subscription based place to play poker online , comfortably in your own home. Check them out. They have many friendly leagues with such interesting names as Card Shark Poker, Sin City Kitty and Under the Gun. Their online poker tournaments offer cash and other prizes to die for. They offer as many as twenty tournaments going on all hours of the day or night. There is a $5,000.00 cash prize offered in one online poker tournament on August 19, 2012. If that doesn’t sound good to you, just remember you can plan when and where you want, as much as you like. Give them a try. Membership is easy.
It was a beautiful day today in our neighborhood. The morning sun was a welcome respite from the rain which started at the beginning of the week. Our rainy season here in northern California is usually from November through February. We've had a strange, cooler than usual summer, so I guess it stands to reason that we should have a different rainy season too. A not so quick trip yesterday to a larger, neighboring town to shop for larger amounts of supplies. We really needed to make the trip as we have been extremely busy all summer and could not get away to make the 45 minute trip. A stop at our favorite In 'n Out Fast food was our lunch treat for the day.
Our cats had decided that their litter boxes were too small, so I purposely bought a much larger one. As I looked at it laying in the back seat of our car, I thought it was big enough for a child to sit in and roller coaster down a snowy slope. Alas, it went into the garage and is now filled with litter. Now to see if the cats will use it! Our neighbors were having a birthday celebration today for their Grandpa and they were planning a lot of nice surprises for him.
He was a World War II veteran and some of his buddies are still living and coming to the party. I hope they had a good time. It was a wonderful day for a party or just to be alive. Grab every moment and seize the day. If you are reading this, you are lucky.....you are still here.

Fans of loft and platform beds know that sometimes it can be a challenge to get bedding which fits properly and looks good. No amount of chasing from store to store will net the sort of results one can get from surfing the web – when you need waterbed sheets or twin extra-long sheets or anything outside of the standard stuff, the internet is the way to go. Perhaps you have a tiny bathroom or one with an odd shape – it can be difficult to find specialty vanities and sinks designed to meet your needs when you only shop the big box stores; take a tip from the pros and shop the web.
If you have never bought anything online before it’s a good idea to start by browsing the websites of the stores where you normally make your bed, bath and home décor purchases because you know they will stand behind the goods they sell should there be any kind of a problem. You may be pleasantly surprised to find that the online selection far exceeds what the local store carries and that’s because most chains ship from central warehouses which can stock a far greater range of goods than what any local outlet could offer.
Browsing online is so convenient because you can shop at your convenience any time of the day or night without regard to conventional store hours. When you shop online you can literally comb the world for solutions to even the most challenging home décor problem and in the process you will find all sorts of inspiration and ideas without spending so much as a penny. When you shop in real time you need to use the car and incur the costs of gasoline, tolls and parking simply for the privilege of looking around.
As our children get older we like to let them in on the decision making for vacation time. Unlike many today, we still have jobs giving us paid vacation time. Of the three boys, the oldest would be our “vacation planner”. At fourteen, he is very comfortable on the internet, so we were not too surprised when he presented us with an exciting plan for a trip to some great places in central New Jersey. He had planned something for everyone, even including the stops along the way as well as hotel reservations. Dad wanted to see the Festival of Balloons (held in late July every year). Friends had already told us how beautiful the balloons were and how much they enjoyed the wonderful assortment of available food.
Lots of venders, too, with something for everyone. The Balloon Glow was spectacular. That’s when all the pilots blast the propane burners, which releases a burst of fire into the balloons causing a glow that makes the balloons look like giant fireflies. The two youngest boys were already planning how to spend their allowances at iPlay America, which is an indoor theme park, with everything from an arcade to midway games and bumper cars. We had been to Six Flags before and the boys wanted to try something different.
The special part of the vacation for Mom was a night out with Dad. She had already decided she didn’t want to go to any of the “chain” restaurants (been there, done that) so she could choose from all-American food or go ethnic from Chinese to Thai to Italian or French. So our vacation was planned for the middle of July for ten days. Friends were going to feed our pets and take care of our house, so we felt really good about getting away to enjoy our trip to so many great places in Central New Jersey.
Mother Nature made sure we had lots of heat while in central New Jersey, so we ended up going to the Crystal Springs Family Aquatic Center to cool off. We really enjoyed floating down the lazy river ride and top of the list for the kids were the big tubes to slide down. The swimming pools offered something for everyone. All in all we really enjoyed our trip to central New Jersey and urge all of you to plan a trip there soon.

According to journalist Mei-Ling Hopgood, American mommies stress out too much over their babies. In a recent book, she made it clear that we mommies CAN lighten up - - - and still raise happy and healthy kids. It’s ok if your one month old wants to sleep right through the schedule YOU have set up for him/her. He/she will wake up when he’s wet or hungry. Use those few hours to get yourself a little more sleep!

I’m one of the million women out there who loves to buy expensive stuff. For me, I love jewelry, purses, and wrist watches. Especially michael kors watches. Michael Kors is one of my favorite designers in the market. He knows and understands about the fashion. Most of my watches are from Michael Kors. The wrist watches are not too expensive. Most of the Michael Kors jewelry or accessories are very nice and elegant. That’s why so many ladies love Michael Kors brand
There are all sorts of bunny rabbits. Velvet rabbits, Peter Rabbit of Farmer McGregor fame, wooly rabbits, patchwork rabbits, fluffy rabbits, rabbits of all colors, etc. There must be lots of bedtime bunnies out there too.
I know of one such bunny which spends many nap-time hours in the clutches of small hands which hold him so tightly he wonders if he will be able to catch a breath. Breathing is not the real problem though. It's his little ears which always seem to find their way into the mouth of the owner of the little hands.
After a while, the mama of the child with the small hands decides bedtime bunny needs a bath. Whoops! Down into the swirling, sudsy water of the washing machine and then into the heat of the dryer. Bedtime bunny comes out looking like new and is content to be squeezed again by the little hands!
