Trust has many definitions.  The trust I refer to is how much do you "trust" the other persons around you?  We all have a set of personal rules by which we use to figure out what is reasonable behavior by the people or family around us. Among those rules are trust, and at some time or other, trust is something you have to deal with and usually all by yourself.

How much a first person trusts a second person is a matter of belief in the integrity and friendship of that second person.  What if your best friend wants to borrow your newest party dress? You like your friend and she's been pretty up front with you before now, so you loan her the dress.  After repeated calls, and many excuses given, the dress is finally returned with a ripped hem.

So here we have a matter of displaced trust.  What do you do? Do you remain friends? How sincere was the friend's apology? Once burned, it's difficult to get back to the friendship you had before the dress got torn. Only you and your friend can make that decision. Do you really need her in your life? What does she add that you can't find in someone else? If you are suspicious of the other's motives, that is called distrust.  Listen to your gut.
