I was having another really bad day.  The mailman had once more left me a ton of bills which needed to be paid.  I had no idea where we would find the money to pay all them all.  Down deep, I knew it was time to have a heart to heart talk with my husband about all these bills.  He knew I was leaning toward filing for bankruptcy by contacting an attorney in Louisiana but he did not even want to consider it. He thought people would say bad things about us. He thought we could make it on our own.  Our parents had told us for months that we were living beyond our means but we didn't want to believe it.  We were only charging things we really needed on our credit card, like food and clothes and stuff.

I had to convince him that filing for bankruptcy was something we could do and come out ahead in the end.  I had done my homework and found an attorney in Louisiana.  His firm had a free consultation in which I learned all about the kinds of bankruptcy plans we could apply for.  If one wants to keep their house, then they usually file for Chapter 7, meaning they can keep the house; or one can apply for Chapter 13, which is a restructuring plan.  I so much appreciated all the good information I was given.  It is important too, that your attorney in Louisiana is one who is well versed in the bankruptcy procedures.

It is so good to know that once the attorney files the bankruptcy notice; our creditors can no longer contact us.  Now I can freely answer the phone and open our mail, knowing the creditors are not calling or writing to hassle us.  I'm sure I can convince my husband that once we are out of debt we can sit down at the table and come up with a workable plan for our future.  I am so glad I contacted the attorney in Louisiana.
