Who doesn’t love shredded cheese? It’s almost un-American not to love cheese. Hard cheese, soft cheese, stinky cheese, tangy cheese, goat’s cheese, cow’s cheese, buffalo cheese, cheese from sheep, cheese from France, cheese from Italy, and domestic cheese.
Is it easier to think of dishes that do have cheese or easier to think of dishes that don’t have cheese? Cheeseburgers. Spaghetti. Ravioli. Cheese salad. Cheese tart. Cheesy garlic bread. Macaroni and cheese. Mozzarella sticks. Grilled cheese sandwich. Cheesecake. Tacos. Enchiladas. Apple pie with a slice of cheddar cheese. Bacon and cheddar quiche. Cheese and crackers. I’m sure I haven’t even scratched the surface!
Sliced cheese. Grated cheese. Shredded cheese. Cheese wheel. So many different combinations! When we’re in a hurry sometimes it’s nice to buy the cheese ready to go. Rather than having to mess with the pesky hand grater to get a nice grade of shredded cheese. So much easier. And, perhaps even more importantly, there are so many varieties to select from. Sharp cheddar, 4 cheese Mexican, mozzarella, reduced fat Colby-jack. A cheese for every occasion!
Holy cow! Not only is shredded cheese packaged and ready for use at the grocery store you can of course get sliced cheese also. You think there are a lot of shredded varieties to choose from? You should see the selection of sliced cheeses. Swiss. Baby Swiss. Muenster. Pepper Jack. Reduced sodium Provolone. Jarlsberg. Gouda. Oh my gosh! The choices never end.
So what’s the down side of being all American and loving cheese? Could be your ever expanding waistline! Cheese isn’t the first thing you think of when you want to diet, is it? Me neither. So what can you do? Go for the Reduced fat cheeses of course. Choose from reduced fat Mozzarella. Reduced fat Pepper Jack. Reduced fat sharp Cheddar. Reduced fat mild Cheddar.
So, no matter what size you are, or want to be there’s no reason not to eat cheese. Don’t be un-American! Join the best place in the world. Have a slice of cheese on us. :-)
